just wondering, i currently have a 100 gal with wet/dry filter, i had 2 mag 5's but i had another spill over a cpl of days ago, so i cut a pump off. and a hang on emperor 400. i'm thinking of doing away with my wet/dry all together. just wanted some ideas

180 with O's.

FX5 - (prefilter media and biomax) - 3500lph
Eheim - 2329 wet/dry - 1050lph

Works very well.

I have a large wet/dry with 2 AquaClear 500's on my 125. I used to have a few canisters before I built the wet/dry. Since I built it, I've never looked back. Being that the wet/dry helps a lot with gas exchange and biofiltration, etc. my rays never looked and acted healthier. The AC500's just help with taking in the tank gunk. I also never had to worry about water conditions as my tank is overfiltered. I do water changes every 2 to 3 weeks, taking weekly tests now. I could even stretch it to a month from the way the tests read, but I think that is pushing the envelope.

On my 125 I have a w/d doing about 900gph, an XP3 with sponges in the first basket for mechanical and lava rocks in the other two, and a marineland 330.

My problem is my nitrates. They wont go down for ****. I change my prefilter to my w/d, rinse the cartridges in my 330, and do a 50-70% water change weekly. Any ideas?

How long have you had the wet/dry running? It took a LONG time for my lava rock to colonize. Once it did, the filter became a pleasure.

Do I take it the rest of chemistry is flat? If it's 0's, your filters are working. What's your bio-load?

Either start a forest in a refugium, plant the tank heavy or more water changes / drip system if you've got a drain.

Keep us posted.

An Eheim filter rated at 600L but i need another filter to be honest.

Carl.

i got 2xeheim 2028 in my ray tank.. one eheim 2028 it big enogh to 600liters but i have two in a 375liters tank

My tank has been running for about 10 months now. My bio load IMO wasnt/isnt heavy at all. For the first few months I had 4 8" pygos. Now I have a 7" ray, two dats no more then 7", a 8" peacock bass, and 10" bichir.

About a month ago I cut up hostas (I think that is what they are called but those common house plant vine) and put several in my tank and now the root are everywhere.

I think my problem is my tap water. Believe it or not my tap has an ammonia reading of about 1ppm and a nitrAte reading of 40ppm...

in my 150 i have 2 2226 ehein, inside filter for 1100lth plus a MH of 900lth to move things.do 50% water changes a weak.
but want to build a plant filter
