What's going rate for a 6-7inch clown loach?

I paid 1$ for my clowns because my lfs didn't know what they where.

I had some of my clowns for some 8 years now and my biggest tops out at 8"... I guess my guys are EXTREMELY slow growers.

FYI - 99% of the clown loaches in the aquatic trade all originate from 2 sources, most of them from West Borneo in the Kalimantan district, the rest from Sumatra. It doesn't matter if you buy them from Jeff Rapps, Petsmart, or the man on the moon, the only real difference is the ones from Kalimantan are typically more vibrant in color. I have 10 from Petsmart.. I have bought a few at a time when they go on sale for $5. As stated previously it seemed the dominant one did have a growth spurt and is now .75" larger than the rest and it's much thicker. They are all still small (under 3") but I'm seeing "decent" growth out of them. I expect them to slow down quite a bit once they get close to 4".
A LFS has 6 at around 5" and they want $40 a piece. That is actually a pretty good price from what I have seen.
On a side note.. reading above it stated that all clowns come from 1-2 locations. I was assuming the Petsmart clowns were tank bred. Are these actually wild caught?

That's a fair price for midwest I think.
My proud 6.5" and 5.5" CL's died 2-3 weeks ago within 30 minutes after I moved them from small to bigger tank. I raised them from 2 inchers. Sucks big time, worse than the not-long-before death of my 10" datnoid from fighting
CL's are all wild caught so they're of pretty much similar quality as RD said.
