I empathize. I'm starting to think all my fish are females but 2. After growing a fish out for a year, to have it turn out female and have to start all over is brutal.

It sucks, I even thought about just emptying the tank and doing a solo dovii, but I'm worried my tank would not be adequate for one...
Man I've got a pair of midas and a pair of convicts in a 125... You could easily have like 10 more pairs.... Hahaha! In all seriousness, I love the plan. What are the sizes of the different fish? My female midas is she-satan reincarnated, the most savage and capable fish I've ever kept. Her kill list is as extensive as it was expensive. Just advising you keep an extra close eye. Midas are so powerful it's astounding, and surprisingly my male is super duper mellow.
My male midas is fairly mellow as well. He gives chase but never tears anything up, except for a flower horn a while back. He's maybe 9-10" and I got him almost a year ago at 2". His girl is 6-7" much smaller mass wise, but ounce for ounce a lot nastier. He is is actually more tore up from their mating play than her. My 5 festae range from 3.5-6" I know 3 are definitely male and 1 is definitely female, the smallest I'm unsure of.
