I have 2 AC 70/300's on a 55 gallon-
Both with sponges on bottom, then carbon. Then one has bio-media on top, and the other ammo rocks in a pantyhose on top. I rinse the sponges once a month and change the carbon every three months as well as the ammo rocks.
Other tanks have in tank filters with sponge, then carbon, then sponge (reverse oreo).
