First of all, if you knew me, you would know that I take the utmost care of my animals, which is what some people who posted in this thread have tried to convey and I appreciate that. I don't feel the need to defend myself, however, I will offer up an explanation of the situation at hand.
The only fish in that tank that is a rescue currently is the aro, which I am currently finding a home for. He was taken in in very bad shape as redtailfool has mentioned at 7", nursed back to health and has flourished to a grand 22". If I take such terrible care of my animals, it would have been dead LONG AGO. The rest of the fish with exception to one redtailed gourami, the polypterus endlicheri and one datnioides pulcher have been raised from their baby stages to be what they are today. Again, if my fishkeeping were so bad, they would probably not be here today.
Currently, they are all in that one tank. Does that mean that I do not have plans of rectifying that situation? You automatically think that there are no plans for expansion? I was forced to take down separate system, thus having to relocate fish in that to this one, hence the need to over-filter this tank. I can attest that they all are flourishing even though they are in there for now. Water parameters are in fine shape. The fish are all eating and acting normally, so to me if they are all doing so well, they are making the best of the situation. Someone should post a pic of a REALLY packed tank as I've seen far worse.
I appreciate your concern for the fishes' sake. You are obviously entitled to your opinion as is everyone else. Dont' take this as "snippiness", but from the looks of the posts in this thread, it wasn't until your "snippy" post that things started to take a turn. Some other members posted their disapproval, I gave a brief explanation that "the monster tank is coming" and that was it. You've taken this to another level by slinging hash.
I'd hate to see you leave over something so trivial as to someone commenting on your post to your dissatisfaction, or from my tank being packed for a month or two.
There are 2 schools (no pun intended) of fishkeeping here it seems. The ones who enjoy a packed tank and the ones who enjoy spreading their fish out to different degrees. It's obvious what side you're on, and I can appreciate that. It's the fact that you automatically think that I am on the opposite side that perturbs me. Oh well...life goes on.
