What's one thing aquarists can have enough of?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Knowledge. Something else it seems most are lacking in, is reseach to gain the prementioned

No flaming other people please. Just want to know what is one thing or numerous things an aquariust can never have enough of? Don't answer money it is an expensive hobby but everyone knows that. Please only aquarium related things
I believe it is three things
1. Substrate
2. Extra tanks
3. Decoration

1. I believe substrate is because every time I set up a tank I start to feel like I dont have enough and i need more so i always have atleast 50 extra pounds of one substrate
2. I believe you can never have enough tanks because whether it be breeding or hospitals or other reasons you always need more space! I currently have about 6 tanks not all running only four are running
3. I believe you can never have enough decoration because if fish are stressed it spreads diseases an if diseases are spread it can kill and no one wants dead fish. So I always keep atleast 15 castles, houses, caves, and hideouts and around 5 different types of plants live and fake

Yours is an interesting list. I have no use for substrate. I don't have the time, inclination or patience to vacuum substrate. I have no interest or plans for more tanks. My fish will shred/destroy or injure themselves on any decoration or item placed in their tank. So decorations are out. Perhaps I'm not an aquarist, but am just a lazy pacu mom.

Haha a lazy pacu mom rofl I always seem to need substrate no matter what for som random reason I will need it too like when I set up many tanks and most are smaller (I like small tanks) I don't know why I love small tanks but I do and I always need decor because I either buy small or baby fish that love to hide and when I buy large fish they usually just tear them up. I haven't touched any decorations in my turtle tank for weeks because every time I make them how I like them you can find them about an hour later dug up and destroyed

Filtration ( I need at least a 10x turn-over rate on any tank I run and the bio-space/media to get the job more then done)
water conditioner ( If i have free time.. I do a water change... even if I did one yesterday... I just can't do enough)
live foods ( so hard to find good quality live foods for my picky/specialized eaters. and of course enough to satisfy their needs w/out breaking the bank )

In terms of decor, I would say rocks. I change the rocks around in my tanks a LOT. Especially if i add new fish because I have so many aggressive fish. Another is live plants. I have a planted 55 that every time I look at it I see another hole that needs a plant!

I changed my mind I believe all aquarists need a good filter rather than most other things. My turtle tank constantly reaches it's bio load like yesterday it did and I clean it and now it just reached it's bio load again omg I hate it so much
