What's so special about this fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's 70 for the group. If you divide 70 by 3 you get $23.33 with the 3 repeating.
I'm thinking that too Olivia, liveaquaria does get very uncommon and occasionally rare fish in the diversden. I saw a group of 6 tetras going for over a hundred, it may have been $120. Can't remember what tetras they were.

I check Diver's Den everyday. I never used to understand "shopping" at mall where people look around for hours and don't buy anything but I guess I'm doing the equivalent on Diver's Den: I can't buy fish till my QT is clear but I look.

Part of the reason is probably to see what "rares" show up

Anyway, I saw the $120 fish you were talking about. I remember they we're a fish only found in this one river or stream in South America.

I learn a lot when rares show up after I look them up.

I was surprised about the two kinds of silver dollars that guy for $200-300 each. I thought it was a misprint when I first saw the prices

The blackberry silver dollars have grown on me but these don't seem much better than regular silver dollars but they must be rare in some way:

Another fish I learned about from DD is this datnoid. I like this fish:

I've seen several of these sell but this one has been up for a few weeks. Tastes obviously vary but this is another one that doesn't do it for me:

Finally, the blue eyed pleco that's like $300-400 that's popped up twice since April is another one I really like. I like the zebra pleco too but that shows up a lot more than the blue eye. Other than by its price, I might not have even guessed the zebra pleco was rare as it shows up regularly.

Not quite a rare as the fish in my sig, but still a rare tetra.

I remember about 10 or 15 years ago, when a single adult Mayaheros beanii, would go for $300-$500.
Back then, few people were breeding them.
Today, juvies can be acquired for $3 each from select breeders.
So far, Nandopsis ramsdeni can cost in the hundreds, but because now Cuba is opening up, prices may drop.
Just as Iranocichla hormuzensus are obviously not going to drop in price, in todays political climate.

There are some expensive fish out there, some go for high prices because they are colorful when acclimated (your coelurus tetra), others are hard to produce, such as blackberry silverdollars, which are hybrids.
Others are hard to collect or expensive to export.
