55gal with light, iron stand, and air pump I won at a raffle at an auction $5.00 worth of tickets. I did this twice in consective auctions by the same local cichlid group.

I was checking out a local aquarium site when I noticed an interesting post: "Free 300 gallon aquarium, must be displayed in a public school". The tank had been used in a project that was completed, the grant didn't allow them to sell it.
A few e-mails later and I was driving to the Veterinary School at the university to pick up my new monster. They had a pallet jack and a hydraulic loading dock, so they just plopped the whole thing - tank, stand, etc. - in the back of my truck. I strapped it down and was off, couldn't have been easier. Unloading wasn't so simple...
The tank came with a couple heaters, homemade undergravel plates, an Eheim 2017, and strip lights. It now houses "Snappy" the Common Snapping Turtle.
The best deal I ever got buying a tank would probably be a 75 gallon with a top, a stand, a couple power heads, heater, and a foot-long Sailfin Pleco for $100.00.
