Howdy,

Eheim - no doubt.

If you ever have such a question again, I suggest you use the poll option MFK offers ... makes it easier :-)

Mhmmm.

never used the "poll" threads before. sorry.

i'd like to thank you all for your replies.
they are very well appreciated.

:headbang2

my general idea with filtration~ was the more. the better.
but you guys trip me out by backing Eheim so much~
So, it must be a great line of canister filters.
very interesting data and analysis.

in the end you guys really would choose a Eheim over the XP3~
100 gallon filtration, to 175 gallons. :nilly:

No problemo. Just trying to make your life easier :) When you start a new thread, scroll down all the way. There's a field "post a poll". Just check it and choose how many options you want to offer  You sometimes get more "vote clicks" than you would get written replies.

Also, check out the sticky in this forum. It will give you a good idea of what equipment is reliable. Bottom line: Eheim doesn't look too bad ;)

This is for a 40 gallon?

The XP3 would create pretty massive current in a 40. Overkill IMO.

I wouldn't do the bio-wheel, although great HOB filters, they can't keep up long term with the canisters. They make great additions to, but not in lieu of.

Another option for a cheap canister that is pretty good, just has no replacement parts is the catalina aquariums 1000. they are $60 off the website. http://www.catalinaaquarium.com/ They are basically built the same as eheims, but the long term quality is not as good. THe pumps I have heard are really good though.

I bought a ca 1000 for 50 us on e bay ,great filter so far no probs and cleans good.

The 100 gallon flow filter is the 2026 which is comparable to the XP2 in size, not quality, the 2028 eheim filter is the same filter with more media room. It is comparable to the XP3. There is also a new Pro3 line of Eheims which I heard has a filter that is designed for a 125, and a 180, and then the big daddy 320! Love that 2080 filter, only way to get better is a W/D.
