I was woundering what temerature everyone keeps their tanks at. You can list the species of fish and what you feel is the best temerature to keep them at. Please use degrees F if possable. Comments and reasons for your settings are welcome, I'm interested to see what everyone thinks.

Discus 85
Angel Fish 82
Trimacs 80
Midas & RD 80
GT & JD 79
These are my normal settings +/- two degrees normal daily fulctions.

I keep my jd at 76, shes in with a 4 line pim and when i kept the tank at 78-80 the jd was gettin quite rowdy with the catfish, knocked it down a few degrees and chilled her temperament out, both fish seem happy and growing nicely at that temp

I never pay too much attention to specific temps so long as the are within the range of normality for my fish. I think my water tends to be on the cool side though.

I've noticed over the years that I get more spawns during the spring and fall when the temperature in my apartment fluctuates the most. This may also explain why waterchanges induce spawning. Other than improved water quality, the slight change in temp may trigger something.

only tank where I focus on keeping the temps up is the Ram tank, which is set at 84 . . .

the other tanks hover around 77, +/- 2 degrees either way . . . one tank has port cichlids, gymnos and an EBJD; the other has port cichlids, a carpintis and a convict

80 degrees on everything.

I had a bad breakout of velvet once.
The water parms were perfect, only thing I could attribute it to was temp fluctuations during water changes. My research revealed that velvet/ich is always present but will thrive at lower temps. I use two or three heaters also to prevent fluctuations during water changes. I also use salt. There are probably good arguments against this, but I haven't had any problems for years.

82 degrees I have a pair of GT and 4 fredrichstahlis in a 75 with 4 tinfoil barbs and a few rare plecos and small catfish the tank is 75 gal. with an FX 5 for filteration. the tank is controlled by an old reef controller I had from my salt water days so the temp dosent fluctuate more than about .5 degree. I keep the temp up to help keep ich and other problems at bay.
