Someone once told me that similar to certain giant reptiles the sturgeon doesn't have a growth hormone inhibitar, or atleast the Larger sturgeon species don't. So they never stop growing ever they just slow down the older they get, and those fish can live for a long time. Some one once told me some of the larger sturgeon can live in excess of a hundred years. Feel free to tell me how wrong I am I have no sources beyond word of mouth.

The hybrids typically get bigger thanks to hybrid vigor. They were originally bred for the food industry, so the goal was to get a fish that grew faster and larger than either of the contributing fish species.

I got my hybrid by accident: the LFS ordered it in as a TSN, and it's definitely is not a TSN or RTC rather a hybrid of the two. I'd say that it was a pleasant surprise since I'd wanted a hybrid, but they weren't listed as a fish that the LFS could get. Many vendors here on MFK have the hybrids for sale on a regular basis, too.

that's right, gator gar usually get about 3-4' long in captivity, unless you go out and hook up a 5 ft gar then put it in a huge pond/tank then it might continue grow!
