whats the biggest kind of bichir?

im planning to get a bichir. so many kinds available what should i get if i like big fishes? can some one link me to a pic of a really huge one to get an idea of how big these get?

There are a few that get really big. I believe the one that is speculated to be the largest is Polypterus Endlicheri Congicus, which is rumored to grow up to 39" or so. Also, P. Ansorgii and P. Bichir Bichir are also rumored to grow past 36". Here is a picture (not mine) of those two together.


If you want a cheaper alternative to those though, since all of them are fairly expensive, you could also get a Polypterus Endlicheri Endlicheri, which is a very common one and grows slightly more than 2' long.

i suggest getting the endlicheri they grow to a descent size costs around 1k php

In aquaria, they won't get that big even if they were wild caught, unless you got them at the size that you wanted.
