Whats the biggest mormyrid around?

There was some shots of them eating cichlids on Blue Planet, cool looking fish. They looked fairly large.

They were Mormyrops anguilloides, I have one at 12" they are surposed to get about 4'-5'. It was that program that inspired me to get one as well as Dorado.

The Mormyrops anguilloides is the largest listed at up to 60" and 34 lbs. They are called cornish jacks. The next 3 in size are all Mormyrus species, the Rume, kannume, and cashive. Thes all reach up to 40 inch.

Don't know, not even "oddballers" seem to be very interested in them.

I know Mormyrops anguilloides get to around 60 inches. Not sure if they are the biggest. Would love to have a school of them in a huge tank.

You want a school of every fish in a big tank..

Aba aba are in the mormyrid family (i think). they get pretty big. Not sure about 60" and 34lbs like the anguilloides though! thats pretty huge!

I have Mormyrops anguilloides currently at 12".

Aba Aba is a knifefish, It does get huge aswell.

The aba aba (Gymnarchus niloticus) is in the Gymnarchidae family but it does belong to the same order as the Mormyrids (Osteoglossiformes)
