I have a 100gal in my apt. I live on the 2nd floor. What I did, was built a platform and put the tank on that. Thus spreading the weight across more of the floor joists. I then purchased renter insurance that covers any damge I do, and yes it even includes damgae caused by flooding due to a fish tank. I asked them. It only cost 137 bucks for a whole year, not to bad for a little more piece of mind.
If I am still living in an apartment and don't own my own home yet, should owning a 1,000 gallon tank be my top priority? Heck who knows!? This is MFK after all !!!!!
