how do i get to the right sub forum? also how do i know when you've replied to me. thanks

you got pm

Keep in mind that a Rhom is one of the largest piranha, so a 50G will only be good as a temporary solution (maybe a long time depending on how small the Rhom is). You can probably get a Sanchezi, Hollandi, maybe a smaller Mac for that price range which might all do well in a 50G for a very long time.

For $50 your best bet would to pick up a baby S. rhom or small S. mac. Both cool serras. $50 really limits you when it comes to the less common serras.

+1. you really shot yourself in the foot with that price but more importantly....not everything "exotic" is readily available unless you're going to order them, shipping cost needs to be factured

how about if my piranha budget is around 100 bucks???

are diamond rhoms expensive and do they grow big? also how much is a serrasulmas elongatus in canada (the US if you don't know).

thanks

large rhoms yes can be expensive, especially if they look "nice". yes they can grow big but they're extremely slow grower (inch a year). smaller ones (under 4 inches) can be found for 15-50 bucks based on what i've read on here and seen in my local stores. problem is you wont' know what it'll look like as an adult and if you've seen some of the beautiful color variations, you'd understand why people would rather buy a large one

elongs, they're 150-180 u.s. here locally close to full grown. never really been a fan of them for personal reasons (they're ambush predators, no reason for them to be really social and they don't grow very large. streamline body shape is kind of cool but you really want to stare at it for years since you can't keep anything else with it?) Since i don't have an interest in them, i don't pay alot of attention when mentions of prices come up on here.

with your budget you can't go wrong with a ruby red spilo ( serrasalmus spilopluera ) beautiful piranha and they're more outgoing than rhoms, but diamond rhoms are nice too but they are a hit and miss...and by that I mean some are shy and some are aggressive off the bat
