whats the difference between a regular Delhezi Bichir and a WC Delhezi Bichir

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ive searched through quite a bit of posts on this site before buying my Delhezi and have found the following differences (keep in mind that there are always exceptions and these are broad generalizations):

WC (Wild Caught):
-Better Banded Markings
-Better Colorations
-Grow Larger
-More Aggressive

CB (Captive Breed):
-Splotchy Markings
-Smaller Size
-More Peaceful
-Less Prone to Illness

This should summarize most of the differences.

. . . Because, in the case of Delhezis, nature can't be beat. But, with many types of fish, captive breeding has created some true beauties.
ic ic interesting to know!

Ok time for me to jump in. As for which one have better coloration, both can have it, it will depend on the genetic of the fish and environment. As for patterns both fish can show better bands but there are some CB that are born with less bands or none at all or all over the body. Example is the royal bands but this also presents in WC but not much all over the body compare to CB. For aggression both can be semi-aggressive or none at all. For size, WC have a "potential" to grow bigger but that doesn't mean it won't get stunted as they can be too. Both can be less prone to illness Or prone to illness just depend on how you take care of it.
