what's the difference between acestrorhynchus altus and a. falcatus?

ok so i decided to get a red tail cuda, and found out that there are 2 different red tails. so how do i tell the difference? i heard something about the altus having a black spot behind the gill plate. so how do i tell the difference? thnx

lol you answered your own question. You can see A. altus at Tha Aquarium in sandy if you want to see one in person. They have two in the Tanganyikan display tank.

no way they have them!!! i was gonna order from www.liveaquaria.com . so what is the one at http://liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=830+836+1110&pcatid=1110 ??? they say it is a falcatus. but it has the gill plate spots? thnx

The A. altus there aren't for sale I don't think if they were they would probably be in one of my tanks. The picture of the one on that website is either A. altus or A. pantaneiro but most likely A. altus.
