Whats the difference between stable and unstable DATS

Hi,

can anyone tell me the difference between unstable and stable dats.

I belive it has to do with their keeping the stripes well marked..A friend of mine offered me 2, one is what he called unstable, his markings fade and blur and come back again, the other he called stable,, and as a matetr of cat it is always well marked..

oh ok thanks but dont all Dats go unstable when there hiding and when the come out there fine.

I have 2 4inch indo Dats and one of them always hides and id usually dark but if i ever see it out the colours are fine and my other 1 is always out and only when hiding he is raley dark coloured

Stables turn a nice Golden/Yellow and hold it. While unstable dats stay real dark and their golden fades in and out.

Stripes stay the same either way.

My own experience? You can't-my 8" frustrates the s... out of me.
Course if anyone knows different then please let me know.

Try some negative reinforcement. When it's dark, slap the crap out of it. Works on children. LOL

IMO, it's a combination of genetic and environmental factors, but a genetically unstable dat will always be less stable than a genetically stable dat under the same environmental conditions.

Move environment around, give them a peaceful tank with less activity. It's just like a mood.

Get them in a good mood, can't hurt.
