By the looks of it your piranha are just the standard red bellied pygos. They will most definietly loose some of the bright red color as time passes. Every one of my reds looked like that until they got a few years old. As well they will loose their spots and darken up. Yours are still young as hell, but look healthy no doubt. And i dont think that import racer ment you any harm he was just stating what he wanted to say, don't think he was yelling... any way what he said is true the super reds are more elongated and are a much different fish. Take a look at aquascapeonline.com to see the difference between the standard red bellied piranha and the super red. . . . noticable difference fo sure! And i have herd them called super reds but they are also sold as snakeskin reds too. Depends on where you get them.

I've had my 10 red bellies for over a year now and most of the time the red is dull. Sometimes it's super noticicble. See if you can track any changes like that. But there's no such thing just a gimick. Kind like buying a teacup terrier they don't exist. Just got ripped off for the runt thats all.

feed shrimp with the shell on and other color enhancing foods and they will start to look better in no time.
