Whats the longest you've starved a fish for?

I'm trying to rid myself of green water, so mine are not only being starved, but they are in the dark under a blanket.
You guys think an Oscar would be a good teacher fish? I got a BGK and Pleco and I know cichlids are known to harrass them mercilessly. UIm thinking about buying a small oscar though today.
i starved an asian arowana for almost a month and it started to eat pellets, i would not have gave in first but was glad when it did.
the stupid thing was i sold it about 2 weeks after and the buyer had it back on live and could not get it back on dead again.

my mayan was reluctant to feed atall for nearly 2 weeks when i first got it.
after he settled in he's fine. greedy fish now.

Maybe some sort of schooling fish?I have starved fish for 6 weeks with out any problems. I used to have somebody feed my fish during the summer/Christmas when I was in college every time they would mess up and I would loose a fish or two. The only time I didn't loose any fish is when I locked up my apartment and I was gone for 6 weeks, even my 6 red bellies were fine. All the fish were well fed before I left.
before i got into fish keeping, i had a betta with swim bladder disease (dident know at the time)
i literally dident put ood in that tank for 4-5 months, and he stayed alive until finally giving in.
