Whats the longest you have starved your rays in order to get it to eat a certain food?

Please share how long and what food it was? Did your ray lose weight prior to caving in?

This thread is intended for people who question the practice of what is a safe and reasonable time for starvation practices.

OMG is ur avatar from RE 1 ?????

anyway, ive tried starving my little marble for about 1 week with no luck. he only eats worms. i caved in because he was getting pretty skinny...

1 week here to switch to pellet, didn't work.

I am awaiting the delivery of "Trout Chow" that is as good if not better then Hikari Massivore. I get it for $0.25/lb. I am working on a timed feeder much like what you would find in an aquacultural setting. I plan to starve the rays for at least 10 days, then restart the feeding of whole smelt but chow stuffed into them. Next step, just chow with occasional smelt as a supplement. -FM.

Could you please share why and how this is?

Good luck, keep us updated!!!

I've been lucky so far and have had rays with different tastes, so I've fed a different variety throughout the day and once one ray sees another ray chowing down and he's not... they seem to come around. So no starving to so far to switch diet

3 weeks maybe longer usually if its very healthy ill go 2 weeks but im not affraid to experiment or try different things... id have to read back through my notes to check but a ngt dat i had i starved for 2 months to get it off of feeders...

My friend managed to change diet of his two motoros in 1.5 weeks. Not sure did they loose weight though.
