I had a 20 gallon with a school of zebra danios, some small catfish, and tetras and a few snails that I didn't do a water change on for 2 years. But I tested the water every 2 or so weeks and never had ammonia spikes, nitrate issues or anything. I did run a HOB filter that gave me a 8x turnover rate though and the amount of water I lost through evaporation every summer probably added up to the tank volume a bunch of times. So idk if the water I added to top it off counts. I only lost 5 fish the whole time and they where eaten by the catfish though.
