There is a new species of pike cichlid that just made it into Germany and they are wholesaling for $1500 a fish. Retailers are listing at upwards of $3k.

I am still sticking with my vote on Discus. I know you hear about prize winning Flowerhorns that are crazy expensive, but you also see 2" ones for $10. I never see cheap Discus. I am not sure if I have ever seen one at a LFS for less than $50.

I am not familiar with new pike, but $3K for a fish is just plain crazy. At that price, it better talk.

Talk? At that price, it better be able to jump out the tank, use the toilet, and jump back in the tank, so I can do WAY fewer water changes! LOL...

Tell me about it! I totally regret it now, they were one of a kind and i could have easily gotten more for them. i sold them for 400 and the guy i sold them too couldnt get them to spawn and he sold for 600 and that guy ended up killing them!! one of a kind pair bro and i had them spawning on a regular basis. here is the last video of the pair i had. RIP indeed. I'm yet to have an Umbie, the fishroom has downsized in prep for kiddo #2. My Haits are on spawn #3 this year, and are finally getting huge. I've had offers of a couple of hundred bucks but I really don't want to sell them. The male's hump is getting huge. I have tons of fry and want to get them into the hobby a bit more. Hands down my favorite fish.


The pike that everyone is talking about, is it the one in the rare cichlid thread that the guy in Colorado has? He has an amazing collection...

wow willz is that how much Petrochromis sp red bulu points are in the USA, there by no means a common fish over hear in england but you can get them if you look around, for 30-40 pounds a fish about 60-70 dollers each, still pretty damb hard to find though but i belive that, rare aquatics at crewe has some right now 3-4" 40 pounds each or 3 for 100 pounds

Believe it. Here is a thread on another site for a W/C breeding group of 19 fish that went for $6000 in one day. I think that trumps whatever else folks are spending on discus or flowerhorns. You can't buy a pair or a single of these fish, you HAVE to buy a group. W/C are outrageous and even the 1/2" fry go for $50/per regularly.
