I had ordered an Ornate Bichir on Aquascape, said it would be 6 inches, came in at ten inches and it took him a couple days but he got my Senegal Bichir that was about 4 in, i walked in just in time to see his head poking out of the ornates mouth. If aquascape had been accurate with fish info, then it wouldnt have happened

A couple months ago I had the flu and took a decent amount of Nyquil to get to sleep. I woke up vaguely remembering sleep walking to the fish tank. I went over there and saw I'd tried pulling the filter off, knocking off the intake thing, leaving just the tube. As soon as I turned it off to see what made it's way up there, 5 very decimated fish came rolling out. It was only my guppy tank so the losses weren't severe, but I still don't know why I felt it necessary to attempt to remove the running filter off of my tank while asleep...

ETA: I almost forgot an incident I had when I first started keeping fish. It was a tank I had bought off of craigslist - 20 gallon, with an insane amount of jewel cichlids. Everything surprisingly went fine until one morning I woke up and the water was dark brown and every fish was dead. It ended up being that one of the jewels rammed the heater and broke it, which caused them all to boil to death. Worst part of it is I'd woken up in the middle of the night and noticed the water seemed kind of murky but didn't think to check it out/do anything about it.

Not a fish but I had an axoltl that got captured by a large crayfish and it ate the entire salamander tail first. When I saw it in the morning, all that was left of the axo was the front half of its head :(

my fire eel swam into my return bulkhead did not find him till a did a water change and could not understand why no water was comeing out then found tail sticking out

I thought a pleco of a decent size could live with my two RB piranha, because well you know, Plecos have an "armour".... one day I just woke up to see that one of the P's had taken a big chunk out of half plecos head...Piranhas have very powerful jaws indeed...

I see an offer on some small twin banded loaches so I got 3 of them, I got them back and didn't realise how small they really were. Two of them swam around fine but one of them didn't seem right, he was either really scared or ill. Anyway I come back one day and the light was off but I could make out my chocolate cichlid acting a bit weird....when I looked closer he had the little loach in his mouth trying to swallow him. Eventually he spat him out because he couldn't swallow him hole and the loach had no face left and no tail, it was pretty grim. God knows what the other loaches thought they must have been petrified!

On a happier note the other two loaches are getting on well 5 months later
