i had to watch a sliver arowana that i nursed back to health. die. and im not sure why. Ph, and amonia were fine. now im looking for another one... what was sad was my grey bichr pushed his corpse a lil then look at me as too say "mind moving him, he smells"
or your bichir was was sayin 'you gonna eat that'

A juvenile green tetrazona barb got syphoned by a eheim 2213 inflow. We found him into the canister, still alive, with no more skin. OUCH !!!! Lesson learned, always keep the safety wire netting on the inflow.

my piranha, Lucifer, got cooked to death by a malfunctioning heater, and i had 2 puffers and i threw a beta in there, thinking he'd be safe. He wasn't. all his fins got eaten and he was left to die a slow and painful death. I didn't notice until he was nothing but a fish stick.

Aww, poor fish stick! :(

Another horrible death happened to a guppy fry I accidentally siphoned out of my community tank. I stared at that bucket with a flashlight for about five minutes and swear I rescued every single fry. But when I dumped the bucket, as it was flushing itself down, I saw him in the toilet battling the current. I stopped instantly and tried to just grab him with my scooped palm, but he was already down the drain! :( I felt soo bad knowing he was going to die slowly over the course of hours trying to gasp for air in sewer water amid poo chunks and TP. Of all the ways to kill a fish, almost nothing is more painful than being flushed.

I just got a little payara:headbang2 about as big as a finger and it ate 2 little minnow's and i was thinking he would die with all that food in his belly but... After about 5 minutes the payara threw up 1 of the minnows it was still alive but it did die within minutes after but i think that is a tough way to go shanked, swalloed, partialy digested and regurgitated gross..:yuck:. Well that minnow probly was dead when it came out probly just had some death shakes left in him cause it did not really swim just shake around then it got flushed lol.

my power head sucked a 4 inch catfish under the white gravel filter thing into the intake tube were he was stuck till he died i noticed him when the water was extremely dirty due to him rotting in the tube. i guess he was burrowed in gravel but i dont know how he got under the white filter tray. ?

I had a 12 inch flowerhorn ripped apart by my dovii. I found him pinned under a flat rock, hiding as far as I could tell. He had like a 5 inch cut down one side bleeding like crazy. Almost all his scales werem ripped off, and his face was mangled too. Funny thing was he had been the dominant fish until that point, picking on the 10 inch dovii. I guess the dovii had enough... I should have known better.

- ...introduced my 5" payara to my cichlid tank when his was leaking.. was great for quite some time.. figured Id put off the repair being then he grew to bit more then 8" . Yellow Lab one day decided that the payara must go. lost 'all' fins, with some mighty nips. then moved him to a 30-35gal hospital.... never seen a fish gasp like that before.... don't think he lasted 24-48h in there, looked like he was covered in cotton... could have just moved him to the hospital an repaired the first tank over night... never put things off..

- wife had a community tank, one morning she woke to see that one of her black moore's eyes had fogged over. Took the proper treatment, yet they got worse. Much worse. with in 48 hours of noticing her fishes eyes cloudy they had grown to about the size of the medium marbles .. she was 'freaking' out. They fell off, an floated to the bottom.
About a week later none of her fish showed any signs of sickness... Two days after that she noticed that her last one and only moores eye the exact same way.. Just the left one totally introduced to one of her aggressive angels ..

Last one,
- Friend across had bought the yellow lab that killed my Payara, put him in a tank with another lil' lab. He didnt care for him, and wanted the tank to himself. tore open his belly an drifted to close to the hob ..

I have 3 oscars before and they all died because of algae formation. It was so dirty and the ammonia is on the roof! I realized that direct sunlight would induce algae. I was noob back then. I would never ever do this mistake again. Now, I have 2 oscars, 1 FH, 3 Pacus, 10 koi, 1 Greenterror and they are very healthy.
