Spoke to someone at my local LFS who raises jewel cichlids well this pair raises the fry to about one inch then the father pulls a Freddie on all 150 in one night. They are in a 55 and had two successful batches then this. He said it looked like someone dropped a bomb into the tank.

probably the most gruesome death was when i was cleaning one of my tanks and scraping the algae off the glass. Had the cover off and my flagtail jumped straight out of the tank on to the floor. My young dog was watching me at the time and saw the fish jump out. Of course, he went after it and ran off with the fish but by the time i could catch him the fish was already torn in half. Guts and blood everywhere. Not fun to clean up.

underestimated hungry stingray went after....well you'll see.

Two weeks ago I caught a Catfish that was really deformed. It had little holes or divots in its head and back, and it had red tumors growing on its face. I am not a squeamish one, but... I didnt touch it. I used a de-hooker to pop the hook out while holding it over the water. He was fat and lively, I have no idea what was wrong with it.

i don't have any gruesome tales....yet, lol. but when i was younger i had a pet largemouth bass that caught some sort of disease where he grew this white film all over him, almost as if he were shedding...he died about a week later.

recently i bought a small arowana but for whatever reason i couldn't get him to eat anything. about a week later he went belly up on me...cause of death unknown, lol.

I had a group of black skirt tetras that I was using to cycle a 30 tank. Their neighbor was a 75 with a 14 inch jag hybrid. Got the bright idea one day, to throw a tetra in with the jag. Not a good idea, after chasing it around the tank, the jag bit the tetra in half and spit out the rest. I felt really bad about scaring the tetra to death like that.

When I was a kid I had a sleeper goby with the pineapple from spongebob. One day I looked in the tank and the pineapple house was sideways against the glass and the goby was pinned against the glass dead. I still have no clue how the pineapple fell over...
