I just purchased the new 5g Fluval Spec after giving the 2g model to the lady. I was thinking I'd go the planted route and maybe throw two or thee "nano" fish and call it a day but I like most of you am a true MFKer at heart and I would like some ideas for a true mini monster.

I'm looking for something:
.That will live in a 5g for life
.Predatory more than anything else
.Can be solitary or in a group (keeping in mind tank size)
.Color is a non factor
.Ideally something that won't hide 24/7 though that's not a requirement
.Doesn't necessarily have to be a fish (preferably not a crayfish unless it can live in a 5g for life)

I know this may not work out and I'd be perfectly satisfied with a mini planted tank but I'd like some opinions for a possible mini monster instead. You gotta feed the monkey, man.

What about some of those cool FW micro crabs MsJinksd sells?

I didn't know she sold stuff until now, just found her site and will certainly be checking this out. Great timing as I saw photos and videos of these crabs online a few days ago and assumed it would me much harder to find them. Thanks I'll probably go with these guys. In the meantime and just in case, please keep ideas coming.

How about something from the dario genus?

I think they're great, sort of like mini cichlids. You could do 1:2 male to female ratio. They're not too predatory, but at that size there is little they can predate on!

Rainbow snakehead, really cool fish, mine lives in a 5 and has plenty of room, he's only 5inch fully grown too! Eats prawns and bugs!

What about a Sulawesi Shrimp tank? that could be something different to try in a 5G?
