What's this growth!?

Hey guys I need some advice. I have an 8 1/2" male Kamfa that's suddenly got some sort of wierd growth going on on the top of his gill plate. Check out these pics and let me know what you think. It looks like a monster zit. He's acting fine but I'm just dumbfounded as this thing showed up out of nowhere.

my had them its the hole in the head parasite, not the sort oscars get... cant remember its name.... erm 'hexamita' it killed my midas in three weeks, thats the worms hatching out into the water! antibiotics asap! do some research its quite rare and by the time i'd worked out what it was it was to late and he was too weak!!! check my threads for pics of mine.... think it was my first ever thread. good luck m8.

Lol I think so Kai. I think Justarn hit the nail on the head. I just quarantined him and put salt in his tank. I'm gonna run out and get some clout right now.

Is it eating? If so dilute one table spoon of epsom salt in a half litre of water (3% solution).

Soak his peelts in it, let them absob the solution for a c ouple of minutes and feed. Do it for 5 consecutive days.

also it will be worth treating your whole tank and everything in it mate, i lost alot of fish, my worst few week o being a fish keeper... sucks.
