What's this stuff growing on my driftwood?

Well,if it actually is algae than I have no problewm with it.I like a good growth of algae on certain surfaces in an aquarium and I have always envied those set ups that had rocks and branches that were covered with waving,grasslike algae.I just never figured this stuff to be anything like that but thanks for the answers everyone.

Now that I think of it a bit more, I remember putting a new piece of DW into another aquarium and having the same problem. I ended up taking the piece out and scrubbing it down and the stuff never came back. I just scrubbed down my pieces of DW and hopefully it won't be back.

Just keep scrubbing it off or leave it and let some nice algae grow on it, it looks good when driftwood gets algae on it.
