I will but i got hoime to day. he is swiming around a nit more but his fins are all frayed and his little things on the under side are almost gone(see attachted edited image) The part circled in red is gone. I just took some pix. He has like those red parts around his scales and green parts on his back. Plz tell me what this is. And plz don't tell me how dumb I am for keeping him in a 29g. I KNOW THAT NOW. like evey member tells me that so I know. and i now i need to plan next time i get one. If i ever do again.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I will be picking up an arowana soon and would be devastated if I were to lose it.

Hi bro, real sorry to hear about your loss, but the pics helped alot in a little ametuer diagnosis.

The redness and greeness as well as you say the genearal fraying of fins indicates extreme water shock. Not enough to kill instantly but enough to cause massive slime loss and eventually the sores around his scales. Did you change water recently? Did you check the water supply before adding to the tank as it does fluctuate drastically in some places even here.

Besides upgrading to a larger tank for your next arowana, consider getting an area to store your water and sufficiently soften and cure it so that its more acceptable to fishes before a water change. Additionally, I do about 10-15% water change a day, this prevents large amount of dissolved mineral fluctuation and reduces the effects of stress a single large change might pose.

Thx for the diagnosis. I did just do a water change. a 100% water change(had to move tank) But i just used all the water from my 100g to fill it up. i figure that the tap water will difuse between all the good water and safer to do. plus it dose the water change i usually do. I usually do that to fill up my smaller tank

good luck on the next one. lesson learned, and I know alot of us have been through that. sigh...just find the time to move on...

peace

I'm not sure that using water from your 100 was a good idea. The parameters of the water in that tank was likely far worse than 100% new tap water would have been. It would have probably been a good idea to keep some of the existing water if at all possible. As was already mentioned, look at this as a hard lesson learned. We've all been through it before.

it's also i good idea to lose the feeders
might be the reason that it got sick :(

Hi,

Tank to tank change is only used if the filters and general occupents are identical. Particularly their media content and whatever is in the water as decorative ornaments... they can cause chemistry differences in the water that might stress fish in another aquarium.

At any rate, Hard lesson learnt, try not to pull a stunt like 100% water changes on the next turn. Slow and steady, no suddeness and your fish won't give you exciting new scale or health conditions. :D

Sorry about your loss bro. Chalk that one up to experience I guess:(
