Whats up with the Petco Petsmart people??????

These kinda threads are like Anna Nicole Smith's career.
1. Get your attention at first
2. Last way to long to be interesting
3. Pop up randomly and people still respond
4. End very poorly with bitterness on all sides

Feeders for 26cents each in water that looks like lemonade.

The Petsmart near my house has been stocking some more pseudo rare fish lately. They had some Pike Cichlids for about a week, and have a decent selection all around. Granted they don't have what I'm currently looking for (teugelsi) but whatever. The staff is knowledgeable enough to get by as long as you do your own research as well and the prices are about the same as anywhere else I've been.

it all depends on the individual store employees when it comes to fish knowledge...it all is depending on a store-by-store basis

most of the "fish" people in these stores are just fish peopl for that week. Sometimes its the stock boy who comes to the fish department cause they are short. They are told very little and wrong information or they will just read the labels.

I've bought fish from Petco.. but so far only Jack Dempsey... bought them cuz they were cheap.. at $3.29ea I currently have two.

As for PetSMART as they call themselves.... i've bought a Albino Pleco.. it died on me three weeks later due to not enough algue in my tank...

My Local Petco isn't too bad.... although prices on Oscars are somewhat outrageous.. As for PetSMART... i dont like their fish.. i've seen fish with bad fins there and most are getting chewed up...

Not to mention Wal-Mart.. my josh.. i've seen fish that are just dead inside along with live fish. and they dont even care....

try feeding it next time. there are a ton of different foods out there made just for the plecs, tank algae is never enough.

We've got a Petsmart in nottingham.. the fish department is definitely the last thing on any of the employees minds.. it is obvious that they only go through the dpartment when they have to. Labelling Oscars as 'will grow to 6"', Gibbiceps as 'max size 4"', dead fish in tanks EVERY time I go in there, the staff in this one shop are obviously not fish lovers, unfortunately. I have gone in there a few times, and bought one or two bits and bobs.. last time was to get 5 Kuhlis.. but I'm really careful about what I buy. I would much rather travel over to Tall Trees (my fave aquarium in this are, out near burton joyce), or Wharf Aquatics, but as Petsmart is a 5 minute drive from my work, I find myself heading over there to see what I can rescue from them every so often...
