Whats was your first fish??

I had a turtle for the longest time, but when I first got really into fish keeping it started with my first Senegal bichir, cerberus I miss him

Yea, well he was an impulse by, never saw something like that before (my parents when I was young had your typical tropical community tank) so something that different and unique lookin caught my eye and I always liked a challenge and he was the first of many bichirs

As a teenager I got a 20gal with a JD, Angel and a pictus catfish. JD didn't make it, angel and pictus did till i joined the Army. Gave it to my girlfriend at the time...don't know what ended up with them.
Next tank was a 45tall African peacock's tank. Got this one when I made Sgt and got my own room finally....lol
3rd was a 55gal with 3 Oscar's...I know so wrong to do right. This was pre internet and salesman is all " 3 oscars in a 55 will be fine". They lasted a year and half till heater cooked them....
4th tank and on has all been posted here so if you know me you rode the Rollercoaster along with me in these 3 years or so I have been back into fish keeping.

I was gonna get a tank while I was in the navy. Then I figured the tank would half empty every time we took a roll.

Goldfish in a bowl. Kept it in the kitchen so I could dump the old water in the sink and refill it with nice fresh warm tap water. I got mad at my mom because I thought it was her cigarette smoke making the water cloudy.

P.s. I was 6. I'm 53 now and my next was a glo fish in February. We have 5 tanks now.

I've never actually had a goldfish. I still have one of my first fish, a 20 year old redspot pleco. Was in a 200L tank along with a handful of severums, and a handful of geophagus surinamensis and jurupari.

probably some tetras or something to that effect when i was 8-10.... adult fish were 3 caribe ... 20 years ago

I took the betta route to get the kid's interest. Jumped from a 10g to a 55g, than a second 55g and added a 29g. Many small fish like guppies, mollies, and danios. Finally landed with African Cichlids, a BP, and a bristle nose. Still miss my OG pictus but ich got the best of him...RIP
