whats with the fascination with carp?

why is everyone so into catching carp? and having specific stuff to do it?

i mean, when i went to Alabama, id catch carp on corn for bait. then take them and set them under a balloon for catfish.

The boys across the pond love them as they are pretty much the only fish with anysize they can target. Fortunately for us in the US we have plenty of better choices. Carp over there are so pressured that from what I understand they are tough to catch while over here they are practically a nuisance! They are an invasive afterall.

They are great fish to battle and truly that on ultra light tackle. Even a 2 pound carp on 4 pound test will give you a work out. Love the fight.

what?...... how can you say that?

apart from the massive carp, we've got huge pike, big catfish, large tench, barbel and perch not to mention the salmon and trout.
and thats without whats available in the sea around our coast line

there's loads of big catfish over here (uk record is over 60lb) and plenty of people fish for them

our pike go to over 45lb but its the big carp that are most popular as they put up a good fight and the big uns are hard to catch,
and there's plenty of carp in the uk that are famous and even have names

weve got loads to fish for here, just depends what you like

i know the chinese beleive they are a sign of good luck. thats why you see so many carp tatoos.
