What's Wrong With My Buddy?!?!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That COULD be it. There's just one more Mbuna in there, as it is just a temporary tank. I'm going back to school tomorrow, and they will both be placed in a 55 gal. I hope it's just harassment (as bad as that sounds), I just got him yesterday.

i would check your water.. only time my fish hang at the top like that is when there is a problem with the water quality.. make sure all your filters are working and there isn't something dead in the tank.

When I first saw him doing this, I did a 24% WC, added some stress coat, as well as some fin medication (he is a little torn up from a tankmate at the store). He's still doing it. I took him out and put him in my hand, and he flopped around just like a normal fish would, but when I put him back in, this is what he does.

a water change does not mean that your tank water is clean.. it means that you diluted whatever is in the tank. get out your liquid test kit and check it to make sure. check to make sure all of your filters are functioning correctly and do a very good gravel vac and check for uneaten food or something else dead in the tank.

he is having trouble breathing in poluted water. usually when fish are stressed or picked on by other fish they find places to hide where they can watch for the other fish that are picking on them.

A 24% water change? Way to be precise

Could be stressed out from a combination of things (water quality, transportation, harassment) which has allowed a swim bladder disorder to set in. Do you have a quarantine tank set up? I hate to be a pessimist but when they get like this, they usually don't make it...
