Whats wrong with my gar?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Gator and demjor, you are obviously trying to help me but it would help if you read all my posts and the other thread i put up because no one was answering me on this one,i know the poly was stressing him, thats why i moved him,but he was double the size of the poly when i put the poly in,and the fact that he was like it before i put the poly in as ive said in my other posts or thread on the subject,200l is not too small to grow a 6" gar up in,which is what he was when i got him,as soon as he was big enough to go in the big tank i was going to put him in but if i do that he wont last two minutes!
As for feeding if you read my other posts and threads you will know ive tried everything i can think of,all im doing now is repeating myself!

cheers steve

Trying other foods is great, but unless you succees it's fruitless. I have fought with gar for 4+ months because they refused to eat (with the size of yor fish you obviously don't have this kind of time). It comes down to isolating the fish and working your ass off until he pulls through. 200L is a fine grow out tank for this fish, but you really need to put more focus on him and get him eating. I often times use chopped shrimp to start my fish off with...after a while they catch on to the others eating pellets and whatever else is in the tank.

I don't mind helping you, but I'm not going to hunt through the forum to read every thread and post on this fish. You are the one that needs help, so put all the info in one thread and make it easier to give advice.

Hi jordan, i have put all the info in this thread but people were not really helping me,just telling me what i had already tried,or just ignoring the thread, then i put some feeders in as a last resort but he didnt touch them so i put another thread up to see if anyone answered me on there. And i do appreciate everyone posting but most of them are telling me what i know anyway.
Cheers steve

Put the fish in a tank by himself and work with him that way. If the fish is continuously stressed he will not thrive. There are also many threads/questions on the forum that have been answered on gars and feeding/diet. Check some of them out and see if that helps.

Hi jordan, ive already done that unless you mean take the neons out as well? He doesnt really looked stressed or act stressed he looks dozy and too relaxed if anything,il keep you posted..

Cheers steve
