I've had this Green Terror for a week now. Everything was fine until this morning. When I say fine, I mean he ate and swam well and seemed overall very healthy. He has been eating Hikari Biogold since he came home. All water perameters are normal.

Tankmates are a Jack Dempsey, 2 tetras and 1 gourami. The tetras and gourami are leftover from an old tropical setup and used to cycle the tank. The tank is a new 55 that was properly cycled with some driftwood and 3M Color Quartz and some anubias.

This morning, he was very lethargic and staying on the bottom not really moving around. His poop is also CLEAR. I don't know if this clear poop is due to the Biogold or something else (I've never used this stuff before). It wasn't clear when he first came home. It only started being clear this morning. There are no signs of sickness or disease or parasites other than the lethargic behavior and clear poop. But, something is definately wrong.

What's wrong with him? How can I fix it? Any and all help and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated. I don't want to lose this fish. Thanks in advance.

Also, I forgot, he hasn't eaten since yesterday morning. This is unusual as he has been fed (and eaten) twice a day previously for the past week I've had him. The fish store he came from still has a tank full (about 10) of healthy Green Terrors from the same shipment. And maybe I wasn't so clear above about his behavior. He's literally sitting in one spot and not swimming or making an effort to move since this morning. He doesn't move his fins at all (he used to move his fins around in order to stay in one spot when he appeared much more healthy). Something is definately wrong, I just don't know what. Please help if you can.

If there's anything else I may have left out, let me know and I'll answer as best I can.

funny, i had the same thing happen to one of my Gt's, i took out all stones and plants and did a 50% wc, you could see him getting better everyday from that point,
not saying that this is will work but it did for me, i think he did not like the rocks to well, tho the ph was fine it still had a negative effect on him,

how big is the JD he showing any signs of bullying? is he looking bloated, out of breath really white (lost all his normal colour) any pics?

The Greent Terror is 3.5 to 4 inches. The Jack Dempsey is 5 to 5.5 inches. They've been together for a week now with no signs of fighting or bullying. The Jack Dempsey is actually pretty shy. The GT shows no physical signs of damage (Wounds or nipped fins).

The GT gained quite a bit of color with the Biogold , as did the JD. The JD is getting more colorful and brighter. The GT Has faded a little today. The GT doesn't look bloated at all. He is not gasping for air, but his mouth is constantly half open now (it wasn't like this before today). The clear poop is really throwing me for a loop, I've never seen this before.

I'll get a before (from 3 or 4 days ago and healthy) and after (now) pic up in a few minutes.

This photo is from 3 or 4 days ago (a couple of days after I brought him home). His fin tipss (before today) have since turned much more orange. Today they are a little faded along with the rest of his colors...

I posted this picture twice and can't delete it, sorry...

Photo today with flash (The flash makes him look much more faded than he is. He's faded but not nearly as much as the photo would lead you to believe.) Without the flash, the picture turned out to dark....

I would say his color is a little more faded than the first pic, and certainly more faded than the "before" pic in my earlier post. When he has moved off the bottom once or twice to get out of someone's way, he's not using his dorsal or tail fins at all to swim, only the fins by his gills. And when he's sitting on the bottom, he's not moving any fins.

Thanks again and please offer more help.:(

Also, every now and again, he's sort of listing/leaning sideways. I haven't noticed this behavior unitl a few minutes ago. I've seen this listing/leaning at the bottom once before in a rescued female Red Devil that had been chased and bitten by a male RD, I assume from great stress. She didn't make it through the night. All other fish show no signs of being unhealthy in any way whatsoever. Thanks again.

Until more help arrives, I'm going to do a parial water change of about 12 gallons out of 55 (mostly to feel like I'm helping somehow). I also have Melafix and aquarium salt here at home if you think it's needed.

one of my fish did that it was cuz my water was to cold i just turned it up and he was fine

Water temperature is (and has been) a constant 80 degrees.

His condition is getting worse. He's now just kind of floating with the current. And when I say floating, I mean upside down, sideways, vertical, etc. He has no control where he goes. I think it's pretty much over for him.:(

What could kill an otherwise healthy fish in 12 hours?

He's all but dead now. He's floated to the top and isn't moving except for some very slight gill movement. I'm going to take him out and take care of things (if you know what I mean).:(

The tank sure seems emptier now.:( :irked: :( :(
