Hey guys, hope someone can tell me what's wrong with my 12 cm bass. I got him of my brother about 5 months ago. He was bought by my brother at a pet store at 4-5 cm big. Wasn't looked after properly by my him, so I asked if I could have the bass. Put him into a large tank with a small yabby, was very happy, water changes once a week, filter cleans once a month.
He has stopped eating for about 2 1/2 weeks, he was eating really well things like, neons, rosy barbs and m-l crickets and m-l woodies, he just stopped for some reason. I have since bought 20 2-4cm baby comet goldfish and he won't touch them and won't eat crickets either.
He is starting to go a real dark color, and a few small dots around the outside of his pupil, but still seems quite healthy. I thought he may have been blind but he seems to move when I put my hands up around the tank.
Just wanna know of its a parasite?? Or if there was some way to make him eat?? Either way he needs help. So please someone help me figure out what's wrong with him
Thanks for reading :-)

A picture would help but going off your discription it sounds like Hex. The feeders are the most likely suspects. Not good to use feeders they carry all kinds of unwanted bugs with them. Once the fish stops eating a effecting a cure is difficult.

Try a bath in a 5 gallon bucket of tank water. 2 teaspoons of methylene blue, 5 teaspoons of aquarium salt, 1\4 teaspoon of epsom salt and a double dose of Metronidazole (seachem metroplex). Treat the main tank with Metronidazole at single dosage as per package instructions. Bathe for 30 mins every day for 10 days. While bathing the fish do a daily 50% water change in the main tank. Clean water will be very important. Do not use feeders in the future stick with pellets and insects.

You must have posted pictures while I was typing.

I'm not sure what kind of bass that is, but its not the North American largemouth I'm familiar with: Micropterus salmoides

What country are you from? More importantly, is your tank heated and has the weather in your area gotten cooler(change in season)?

I keep a native North American tank, and when the seasons change and the water starts cooling down, my fish will slow down their feeding. My region is entering into the fall season and my natives have once again slow down from their normal voracious appetite they had during the summer season. If this is the case, then you really need to do nothing.

I agree there, had big mouth in my pond, and caught plenty. this not a north american big mouth,

Looks like Macquaria novemaculeata (Australian bass).

Thanks heaps!!! will try formula immediantly and post results as treatment goes on.
Can I treat feeders as well or is there no point. Just don't like waisting things.
Also, will treatment hurt him as he hasn't eaten in a while is all.

Here's my NA largemouth bass a few months ago at around 17cm.

OK thanks for clarifying the breed of fish for me. I did not know exactly what he was. Just went off what I was told of my brother. Thought his mouth wasn't very large LOL

I'm from Australia and have now realised his an Australian Bass. The tank does have a water heater set to 22°c and is saying so with thermometer. Its spring over here at the moment so the water should be at a pretty steady temp.

If I was to treat my bass (Barry) for HEX, and let's just say, he did not have it, would it harm him any? And would and of the chemicals harm my yabby/crayfish when treating the tank?
