hey guys, i was wondering if anybody has ever had this problem before. i bought a ntt the other day and he seemed to be doing ok up until now. i noticed his bars are becoming slighly unstable and is starting to breathe hard. i've been tryin to get him off feeders, so he only had like.. 2 or 3 meals in about 2 weeks. this guy is around 5-6 inches. the PH is at 7.3 and temp is 81. is it b/c he's not gettin anything to eat? he's still not readily accepting the prepared foods, so im thinking if this is the problem and he's just stressing from hunger. any ideas???

a tiger that size you should just starve it for 3 weeks or you will never get it off feeders

i have hurd of NTT just dieing from sudern death

kick the temp up to 84-86 one good feed of feeders then dont feed again eat or die if you dont stick to that rule you will never get it off feeders

what do you think about his bars becoming unstable? could it be the result of not eating? or something else?

ive had this problem in almost 8 of my dats. they start to breath really hard and their gills are very noticeable. i havent figured out this problem, but 99% of them have died because of this problem. only one has survived and he still has the breathing problem. good luck... ive done many topics and searches on this problem and i still havent found a real answer. try stuff out. maybe try softening the water with drift wood? ive tried adding a lot of air pumps and that didnt seem to be the fix.

that's interesting cuz i thought i was the only one. it actually died this morning though lol. i did have the water already softened cuz there was some driftwood in there. it was also planted, but i dont understand why the dat acted the way it did.

could it be because it needs brackist waters

no dats do fine in full fresh. i just dont know what caused the heavy breathing and awkward swimming, whcih eventually led to his death.

i thought the same thing and dumped a a bunch of salt into the tank and that one dat that was breathing hard still died, but everyone else lived.

my best guess would have to be internal parasites and by the time it gets to the point of breathing heavily... that would be the last sign of life and you would probably have a night or 2 tops before it dies. had too many of these guys die on me because of this problem and i still havent figured it out. whats weird is that i still have one that has symptoms of this problem that has lived for about 2 months now and its only 1.5" big.
