I have the old tried and true Danner pump with the regular sealed magnetic impeller. You're saying it's ok to throttle it after the pump going into back into the tank? I'll have to see how I feel about the flow but just restricting the top flow hole of the stand pipe like the guy does in the above video got rid of most of the gurgle.
