What's wrong with people

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Good for you! Youd be surprised at what a little tlc can do to the most beat up fish. You did the right thing. Lots of clean water and good food and they'll be back in action in just a matter of time......

Dare I ask which LFS you went too? ( that way I won't be giveing them my business) I live in the Mil area myself.

Agreed with a little TLC and good water quality it is amazing how well some fish are able to recover, sometime form a really beat up state.
Good luck and hope they get better.

Thanks for the replies sounds like most are in agreement, salt and water changes would be best right now, I will do a water change tomorrow and just add more salt, is the standard one Tbsp per 5 Gallons ok.

One more question how long should these guys be quarantined, they both ate a couple of flakes today so I think they will survive, but when should I introduce them to there new home, I was thinking two weeks if there's no secondary infections, Marilyn was thinking a full month in quarantine ??????????????????

I agree with the latter.....one month should be the minimum.

Yes that would be fine. Just a point to note, I would add the amount of salt over a period of 3~6 days. Don't want to cause fish osmotic shock to them. Would be better if you have the time to spread it over hourly intervals.
Add a small portion of salt in, observe and see for any signs of distress. If they exhibit those, stop adding and do a waterchange. Else continue

1 month would be adequent. Also try to switch them off flakes, flakes are generally poor in nutrition. Especially now where they are injured, nutrients would help alot for their recovery and to boost their immunity system. Try feeding them pellets.

Are they going to refund your money if they don't pull through? They should have just given them to you for free and wished you luch in getting them back to health. I find it pathetic that the LFS charge you for them.

I rescued 4 silver dollars, and they had bad clouded over eyes. After some good water quality, they cleared up. When I moved them to another tank, their eyes clouded as if they were foggy.. then a few days back to normal. They also did that when I gave them to a friend of mine. Could just be silvers..

I have some other silvers now that have never had the eye issues though.

They did say I could get my money back if the fish die, and I also think they should have been free, I don't think anyone else would have bout them, and I don't think the FS would spend the time or money to try bringing them back to resale condition.

Wait and see. Fish stores in my opinion are not in business to take care of fish, sad to say. They are in business to sell fish.

I am very pleased/surprised with the silver dollars today
