Haha....It's not the tail they are talking about, its the pectoral fin. And if the fish was suffering from malnourishment, it will show in the head and belly region first, not the tail. Not necessarily a defect. It's most likely due to malnourishment. Just keep feeing him feeder until he's 8in+, after that pellet training wouldnt hurt. When he bulks up, his tail should be proportionate to his body.

Where is the defect? In the tail?
Just looks skinny for the most part...that is one issue.
I know how much it costs to get fish from the U.S.. Been there done that! A person goes through all the trouble of getting them here and then you open the box to find something wrong with the fish. Just bugs me that fish with defects are being shipped out without any kind of quality control. LFS are the worst for keeping half deformed fish in their tanks in hopes of selling them to someone that doesn't know better. I just don't get it sometimes! I could go on for ever but I think I will start my own thread for discussion. Sorry for the derail. If you are ever by my way send me a PM as I might sell some of my flawless big pbass as they are eating me out of house and home. They were culled...by me. I don't have to tell you what it costs to get these fish up here.
I kept 2. One is showing really nice coloration in the pond. The other I can't tell from the mutts and will likely get culled as well.
