whats wrong...

Wow! You've gone straight for a worst case senario there!
Personally, if the only symptom my fish had was something resembling fin rot i wouldn't be jumping to the conclusion it was mycobacteriosis.

Ultimately it's your call, and if you are convinced it's a possibility then IMO the only way to know for sure is getting some lab tests done on the fish.

(I read these articles

Thanks for the articles, im still not sure whether or not its mycobacteriosis...

I cant figure out what the heck is causing fin rot. I can't keep a single fish in my big tank without it getting fin rot :irked:

I just bought a UV stelizer to see if it might help control whatever is causing the fin rot. I just dont know what else to try :(

any other ideas on what i could do? Maybe i should try large water changes every day, or every other day?

Pull out any decorations. Run the tank barebottom. Keep a close eye on your water parameters. Make sure your food is varied and fresh (by fresh I mean not old and stale). If you still have a problem, it is disease.

Yep. Sounds like a good plan.

Do you have a current photo of your aro for a comparison just to see how bad it's getting?
Do you have any other tanks, and do they have any similar problems?

Tank is bare bottom, the food is fresh (i bought it when i got the aro which was like a month ago). I do not have any other tanks that have similar problems. Ive never had fin rot before i got this tank.

It looks a bit better in some areas and worse in others. I woke up this morning and he has holes in some places. :(

Pics:
Red circle is where the fin look a bit better
Blue circle is where its looking worse
Green circle is where the holes appeared this morning

You can see how bad the top fin looks in this pic

I'm guessing that as your other tanks don't show the same problems, your supply water must be reasonably ok and your water changing regime is adequate.

It sounds like you are just feeding pellets of some sort. Admittedly good quality pellets usually provide all the necessary nutrients, but IMO it may help to give a more varied diet containing whole foods like smelt, prawns, krill, worms, crickets etc. Maybe also consider vitamin suppliments.

As the fins are getting better in some areas I'm still doubting a serious, progressive disease looking at the pics.........of course that is just my opinion and I could well be wrong.

I feed krill but the pellets make up the majority of his diet. I only feed krill once a week.

For some reason, his tail is almost healed but the rest of his fins don't seem to be healing at all.
