WHAT'S WRONG

Gill flukes, folks. I just lost 2 out of the same batch as patamblife with the same symptoms.

I spoke to lfs owner who says supplier treated for gill flukes for 3 weeks. I will be looking for compensation. :)
 
First of all, we're in Canada. Secondly, this market does not have the number of people or fish where a decent comparison can be made as to the value of aparticualr fish. Yes, many fish here are pricey because they are not readily available. Supply and demand dictates the market everywhere. :)

I am sorry to hear about your loss.It seems that NTT are the most vulnerable of all of the dats to these gill flukes as quite a few members have lost thinbars this way.They seem to be fine as long as they are in the store but then after they are purchased and brought home,they start the heavy gasping and after a day or so they are gone.This is not always the case with NTT but it happens often enough and they should always be treated for parasites when brought home despite what the person at the store says.I have had some success with anti parasite medications such as Copersafe but I doubt that antibacterials would help any.
 
It's not uncommon to lose ntt this wAy, I lost 2 three inch ntt from gill flukes after 3 months int tank. But difference was my ntt got attacked by other tank mates, which reduced the liklihood of suvival even further. Even A dose of kazuri dewormer did not help.
 
The NTT is my favorite of the dats but I lost a few to gill flukes and I am now down to one six incher.I keep telling myself that I wont bother getting anymore of them but I am always tempted when I see one for sale.Try the Copersafe.

Thats what I've been wondering for some time now.
 
Sorry for your loss. In my experience, when I first got my 2" NTT that is, I quickly treated it with Ocean Free Super Copper Safe. It seemed to work for me since he is now 4" and really greedy. I just put the medication everytime I notice excessive flicking. Oh and by the way, I use full dose and have noticed that its quite safe for him. Hope this helps.
