Title explains it all. I keep reading threads about how much people like the AC 110 because of their ability to be modified with biomedia and such. I read on another forum that some people cut the bottom layer sponge in half to add more room for biomedia. What do you guys do to get the most filtration?

I use 2 sponges. Nothing fancy and it works. I've got a second one on the way I'll probably do the same with it. However, I'll be watching this thread for ideas also.

I am running four AC110 on different tanks right now, with two running two sponges, and the other two running 1 1/2 sponges and a bag of Biomax...

Sponge, biomax, Scrubbies, Purigen!

Of my three Ac110s I run one with sponge and biomax it is the sole filter on a moderately stocked 75g. Does the job fine.

The two that are on my heavily stocked 180g are set up with sponge and a bag of crushed coral. The sponges are washed on a weekly basis in hot tap water to remove all particle waste they have trapped. The bio on this tank is handled with a pair of XP3s, this setup works very well.

How do you fit all that in there?? With one sponge on the bottom, followed by the supplied bag of Biomax, and a half sponge on the top; mine are totally full, the sponge sticks out of the water a bit too...

Burt :)

One sponge and 4 biomax bags. Fits nice and snug and all stay below the water. All of them set up the same way. They are all just secondary filters, so I don't overdue it with the sponges.
