What's your AC 110 Setup?

one sponge, 2 bags of biomax, and about 500mL of Ehfi Substrat pro. I still have some floss in the smallish chamber where the tube hooks up with the impeller, that i used to help seed the filter. I keep the carbon separated until i need it to clear meds.

I read on another forum that some people cut the bottom layer sponge in half to add more room for biomedia.

I like this idea... surprised I had never actually thought of it.

wow, lovin the diversity that everyone uses, all good ideas.
question, running a couple of 110s in combo with a fx5 filled with pot scrubbies what in everyones opinion would you use to fill the 110s? the purgine ive never tried but am interested in.

Misplaced, I like the purigen because you can regenerate it in a 1:1 solution of bleach and water. I usually replace mine every three weeks or so, seems to hold up for quite a while. As for the foam and biomax, I replace that every three months.

The fx5 is functioning as your bio filter. so i would use the 110s as mech only. Filter floss on bottom and a sponge above to hold the floss down. Pull out the floss and throw it away once a week. also rinse out the 110s once a month. Adjust the cleanings acording to how messy your fish are. More often for messy fish, less for not so messy fish. If you use a sponge to pre filter the fx5 you should rearely ever have to open it. good luck
