What's your Aquatic New Year's Resolution for 2020?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Make my aquascape portable for university life next year. Will then just optimise my tank space so my family can feed my remaining critters. So honestly next year has no big aquatic goals, moving more into my orchids, carnivorous plants and wood burning :(

Double to triple the gallonage I have currently. Started at 260 gallons without quarantine tanks and am currently at 280 due to a forced upgrade due to a leaking tank.
Looking to get a 5’ x 3.5’ x 2’ or a 5’ x 3’ x 2 as a priority. Depending on when that happens I will start looking into adding more 75’s.

This year is not to buy anything. I have a feeling that won’t happen. Just paid of my mortgage (15y paid off in 10y) and my accounts are on E!

I think a great resolution is “less is more”.

Getting rid of a lot of tanks and keeping a few select. This hobby is wonderful but when you fill your home with tanks you find yourself living in one. So my 2020 is about enjoying life and balancing it with one incredible reef and one one incredible true SA tanK and of course a few qt.

Congrats on the mortgage. For a personal residence people should take 15 year debt in lieu of 30 and you cleared it in 10 even better.
Thanks.

For me just to actually set up a tank, been living in this house 1 year and have my old 120G empty in the shed and a brand new 30G I haven't even taken out of the box yet.
I really want to set up one of these and get back into the hobby, my daughters goldfishtank isnt really scratching the itch for me.

I think my Aquatic goal for the year is bigger, better, bolder.

but on the reality of things that will actually happen is I need to make sure my wife, and soon to be daughter are loved really well. Or else non of these goals mean anything. I have heard a few recent stories of marriages falling apart because of all this and I would rather not follow suit.

Congrats, a new baby will be a blessing for 2020. You have your priorities straight, focusing on that. My tanks did deteriorate when my daughter was born 4 years ago. Time and energy seem to go out the window with a baby and toddler in the house. Now she's older and actually likes visiting fish shops and having a tank I think it's time to get back into it.
Good luck with it all, should be an exciting year for you.

Try new things, maybe a salt tank? Or brackish...

Finish setting up / stocking tanks I currently have or being built.

breeding projects

plecos ?

fish budget probably...

happy new year all!
