whats your best polys??

just got an offer from the lfs, saying they have the longfinned albino; I've seen it on the forum once, but it cost almost three times as much the longfinned senegal here; do they really cost that much? are the longfinned albino hard to get?

I don't know what this longfinned business is about. But, my lfs has both typs of polypterus in stock. The regular is 2/3 price of a albino.
$10/$15 cdn FYI.

I like the regular sengalus because they small, and very active.

But seriously...

Polypterus are like pokemon - Gotta catch em all!

Ornates for their awesome pattern. Laps for their monstrous Jaw And delahezi for their active swimming behaviour!

It's definitely hard to say...I've always wanted a Delhezi and an Endli. And now I have both and then some. I currently have 3 Delhezis, 3 Albino Senegals, 1 Endli, and 1 Ornate. I love how active my Sens are. I love the overall look of the Delz and Endli. And I love the fins on the Ornate and she's pretty active as well.

Polypterus bichir bichir are actually not rare as they are now available from time to time. It's the polypterus mokelembembe is the one that's actually rare even finding them in the wild is hard. Although they were avilable before, they are not avilable from time to time. Even the Japanese have a hard time looking for them. Reason why? It's beacause of their small size and nocturnal secretve activity.

Define "rare"? Pbb isn't seen in every LFS world-wide, its certainly not common. Yes they are becoming a bit more available now and may not be the rarest Polypterus, but I'm pretty sure most people would certainly consider them to be rare.

For me my favourites would have to be the large lower jaw species, Pbb, endli, congicus, and ansorgii. Its a shame I can't get any of them here.

LFS just don't order them that's why you don't see them seldom in LFS cuz of the higher price. If they have the price similar to an endli, then they'll be avilable in many LFS. If you ran an LFS, you need to get a profits and will even higher the price. If a customer will see it, they would just rather get them online.

If you look for the rare bichir by species it would be the mokelembembe. I'm still waiting for Toyin to get them.

i saw this teugelsi at the wknd and i was just in awe of it!
if only i had the £300 they wanted for it! so active for its sheer size aswell....a stunner!

Its a beauty, they would except if you offered half the price as well they have had it for a good 2 years and i almost got it a few eeks back but ended up with an aro, barra and cichla instead but i might get rid and go back for the teug.................
Oh and endli are the best because there so fat and more active than other lower jaws.

They are part of senegal bichir, just a genetic deformation. Senegal bichir have the widest deform and color morph.
