8 tanks total in the household. I need to consolidate (overcrowd) one tank at a time to see if it will make a dent in the next month's bill.

just check and see how much power each setup consumes. My electric was the highest it has ever been last month ($190) and my gas was about average for this time of year ($90). I have 13 tanks running.

$900?? I thought mine was big. I average $500 - that is all the tanks, 8 outdoor ponds with 220 watt pumps, turtle lights, woodworking machines and the whole house. If you have really big tanks that you heat, you should consider getting 220 volt heaters. They are WAY more efficient and cheaper to run.

Take down a tank? Are they 300g+?

Is it a reef set-up with heaters, chillers, and halides?!?

Try taking down a fridge, space heater, de-humidifer or something that actually draw some real power..

My family members accused my fish tanks of being the source of our 'outrageous' electricity bill last winter.. It wen't above $300.. they all SWORE it was 'the large multiple fish tanks in the garage'..

Gee, winter passes and with all of those 'large multiple fish tanks in the garage', the Bill went back down to $100.. just like before I had the tanks plugged in. Space Heaters in the Winter was the culprit!!
