Thx I guess I'll see what will happen if my 3 inch Texas cichlid gets put with the 6 inch wolf fish. I may try a larger Oscar one day. There are always folks giving them away for free.I just grabbed that black columbian wolf from jeff, hes in a tank with redhooks and oscars. I had some smaller yellow africans in there for tank cycle and he found thosr to be snacks. My best advuce for owning a wolf is dont have fisb thay fit in his mouth
Ha not surprised. Mine already seemed beyond pissed when I starved it for one day.If kept with other fish, keep them well fed. My old curupira attempted to eat a bichir of about the same length when I missed a feeding.

I just lost a wolf fish before this one who somehow jumped between the filter and lid. This is my 2nd one and hoping it stays contained. I covered all openings.I haven't kept one in years but the one bit of advice I can give that hasn't been mentioned. Keep the tank covered as tightly as possible. The smallest of openings a wolf fish will find and jump out. I've lost 2 over the years that way, they are definitely suicidal.

What do you do if your out of town and forced to miss multiple feedings?
Damn. This is the main reason I sold my wolf years ago. My buddy’s wolf swallowed a GATF. The wolf was 8” and the GATF 7”.I have 2 Mala both have different attitudes one sits in its pot all day till it' feeding time the other is more active and meaner. It even took a swipe at my tigerfish

Well after that incident I moved that wolf with fish that we're larger than him and I didn't have to worry about it again. If that's not an option, use a divider. I raised that curupira from 3-16" with other fish and only had the one incident. I had another wolf, a large mean mala, that I also kept in a community. But I put that one in with fish that were to fast for him to catch....a brycon melanopterus and a Dorado.Ha not surprised. Mine already seemed beyond pissed when I starved it for one day.
