Just want to see everyone's experience breeding convicts and how aggressive they become, I've bred them three times in the past all three times the pairs I had would bring the fry for a trip around the tank and attack every fish in sight on their way, but I've heard some people say they breed convicts with other larger cichlids in the tank and have minimal fighting, any truth to this ?

Depends on tank size but I had them hitting cichlids 5x their size in a 150 when I bred them.

My convict male would not hesitate to take on my whole arm when I clean the tank. I'm sure if I could fit in his tank, he'd still go at me. I like to compare cichlid aggression to dog aggression, in that it's tenacity that dictates strength more so than size. Just try and imagine yourself as a large cichlid and you own the tank. Everywhere you go, people move aside or run. Then this little shrimp comes at you full speed and just smacks you with everything he's got. It's got to be a unsettling... so you try to get him, but he runs and you chase. It's clear he's way too fast for you, so you ignore him and move on. Then he hits you again and again and again. Yet, you can't ever get him. After awhile you're the one who's tired and banged up but he doesn't have a scratch. =D

All depends. I've had 3" convicts pin a 14" Oscar against the glass, but I've also had 3" convicts swim directly into a jags mouth. Guess it all depends on the demeanor of the fish they are trying to bully. The jag would have never been able to catch him had he not been slamming the jag.

It's still aggression tho. XD Even if it's immersed in stupidity. XDXD
